If you need help at any point during setup, the support team is available to assist with your specific phone system configuration.
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) integration lets you connect your existing phone system to Intellixent. You keep your current numbers and provider — Intellixent acts as a bridge, routing calls to and from your AI assistant using your existing infrastructure.

What You Can Do with SIP Integration

  • Use your existing phone numbers with Intellixent AI assistants
  • Keep your current phone system and VoIP provider
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls through your existing setup
  • Maintain full ownership and control of your numbers
  • Take advantage of your VoIP provider’s competitive local rates

How Calls Flow

Once integrated, calls move in both directions using the same SIP credentials: Inbound (VoIP → Intellixent)
Your VoIP system authenticates using username/password

Call reaches Intellixent

AI assistant answers
Outbound (Intellixent → VoIP)
AI initiates call

Intellixent authenticates to your VoIP using the same credentials

Call reaches the destination
If you change credentials in your VoIP system, update them in the Intellixent dashboard immediately (and vice versa). Mismatched credentials will break both inbound and outbound calls.

Integration Options

PBX Extension

Connect a specific extension from your PBX to Intellixent. This is ideal for testing or routing a dedicated extension to the AI. You’ll need:
  • Extension number (e.g., 1000)
  • Extension username and password
  • PBX server address (e.g., pbx.yourcompany.com)
Example:
Your office uses extensions 1001–1010 for staff
You set up extension 1011 for the AI assistant
Calls to 1011 go to the AI
The AI makes outbound calls appearing as extension 1011

Direct Number (DID)

Route a specific phone number directly to Intellixent. Best for dedicated AI lines, customer service numbers, or sales lines. You’ll need:
  • Phone number in E.164 format (e.g., +1 555 0123)
  • SIP credentials from your provider
  • Provider’s SIP server address
Example:
You have a support number: +1 555 0123
You connect this number to Intellixent
All calls to +1 555 0123 are handled by the AI assistant
The AI makes outbound calls showing +1 555 0123

2

Open the SIP trunk form

Go to your Intellixent dashboard → Your Phone Numbers, then click Integrate SIP trunk.
3

Select your trunk type

At the top of the form, choose the trunk type that matches your setup:
  • SIP Extension — you have an existing SIP extension credential from your VoIP provider
  • Phone Number (DID) — you’re connecting a dedicated Direct Inward Dial number
Fill in the credentials that correspond to your chosen type.
4

Configure outbound settings

These settings control how Intellixent sends outbound calls through your SIP provider.
  • SIP Address — enter your provider’s SIP server address without the port (e.g., pbx.company.com)
  • Outbound Proxy (Fixed IP) — if your provider requires all outbound traffic to come from a single whitelisted IP, toggle this ON. Otherwise, leave it OFF to use dynamic IPs.
SIP address: e.g., pbx.company.com or sip.provider.com
5

Set the number format

Choose how Intellixent formats phone numbers when placing outbound calls. Match this to your provider’s requirements:
FormatExampleSIP Request

Configure inbound settings

These settings control how Intellixent receives and authenticates inbound calls from your provider.
  1. Our SIP Address — Intellixent assigns you a unique inbound SIP URI: 5wed79aeavr.sip.livekit.cloud. Configure your SIP provider to send inbound calls to this address.
  2. Authorization type — choose one of:
    • IP Address — if your provider sends calls from known public IPs, whitelist those IPs here
    • Username and Password — if your provider supports SIP auth, it will use the same credentials you entered in the outbound settings
7

Select your country

Choose the country where your SIP trunk is provisioned.
8

Test the integration

After saving:
  1. Make a test call to your number or extension
  2. Confirm the AI assistant answers
  3. Use the test call feature in the dashboard to verify outbound calling

Security Requirements

Your SIP password must meet these requirements:
  • 12 or more characters
  • At least one number
  • Upper and lowercase letters
  • Special characters recommended
Weak passwords are a common cause of SIP authentication failures and security vulnerabilities.

Common Questions

Yes. You can integrate multiple extensions or direct numbers with Intellixent. Each number is configured independently through the Integrate SIP trunk flow.
No. The integration only establishes a connection between your phone system and Intellixent. You continue to manage your numbers through your current provider.
Yes. You can set up routing rules in your phone system to decide which calls go to the AI assistant and which go to your regular phones or agents.
All configuration options remain accessible in the dashboard after initial setup. Edit your SIP trunk settings any time from Your Phone Numbers.
By using your own VoIP provider, you take advantage of their existing rates and local agreements — which are often significantly cheaper than standard carrier rates, especially for international calls. Intellixent charges a small bridging fee of $0.00045/min on its side; your provider handles the rest.
